Turkish Brand Helps Mozambique Hurricane Victims

With the goal of supporting Africa’s sustainable development, Aksa Power Generation extended a helping hand to disaster victims during Cyclone Idai in Mozambique. Strengthening its technical staff to handle the maintenance and repair needs of generators in hospitals, schools, and public buildings where energy demand was critical, Aksa Power Generation also provided a generator to one of the most crowded schools in the region to ensure that education was not interrupted.

Mozambique, an East African country, continues to recover from Cyclone Idai—one of the most devastating disasters in recent years. Nearly a thousand people lost their lives, and due to the cyclone and subsequent floods, electrical infrastructure was severely damaged, leaving the country in need of energy and aid in many areas.

Continuing its mission of supporting the sustainable development of the African continent, Aksa Power Generation responded to Mozambique’s urgent energy needs after the cyclone by supplying a permanent generator to Colégio Lassalle, addressing one of the most essential needs: energy. Additionally, through its local dealers and technical staff, Aksa Power Generation continues to provide maintenance and repair support for generators in hospitals, schools, and public buildings where energy demand is most concentrated. With its full team of technical and sales personnel, the company works to help the local population return to normal life.

Erkin Tekel, Aksa Power Generation Country Manager for South Africa, stated:

“As Aksa Power Generation, Africa is very important to us. We strive to focus our investments in Sub-Saharan Africa to support the continent’s sustainable development. Recently, the region—particularly Mozambique—was struck by a cyclone and floods, leaving local people in very difficult conditions. To ease this hardship, we decided to support education by supplying energy to a school in Beira, the city most deeply affected. In addition, with two of our technical staff, we are assisting our local dealer by providing urgent maintenance and technical support to generators in hospitals and public institutions in need. Previously, we also provided energy support during hurricane disasters in the United States, helping victims return quickly to their daily lives. We see supporting energy supply—one of the most vital needs in such disaster conditions—as part of our mission as a company.”
