Aksa-Sponsored Sarıkamış Martyrs Commemorative Bike Tour Concludes
The “Sarıkamış Martyrs Memorial Bike Tour,” organized for the fourth time under the sponsorship of Aksa, has concluded. Held to increase interest in cycling and to honor the Sarıkamış Martyrs, the tour started in Ordu and ended in Sarıkamış. Covering six provinces with 12 cyclists participating, a total of 650 km was completed.
The tour, which took place from December 30, 2018, to January 4, 2019, was organized by the Atilla Atay Cycling Team and brought to life under the sponsorship of Aksa, one of Türkiye’s leading energy companies. The route started in Ordu and ended in Kars. Over six days, the 12 cyclists completed a total distance of 650 km, averaging approximately 110 km per day. The tour passed through Ordu, Trabzon, Rize, Artvin, and Ardahan before finishing in Kars.
During the tour, the cyclists collected soil from each province they passed through and scattered it around the Sarıkamış Martyrs’ Cemetery during a ceremony held on Saturday, January 5. The ceremony concluded with a moment of silence and speeches in honor of the Sarıkamış martyrs. The emotional event saw strong participation not only from the cyclists but also from the public.
